Would You Buy It?

Have you heard about the fun new linky party going on over at "Junker Newbie's"?
It's called Would You Buy It Wednesday.  Clever huh?  I'll be linking up for the first time this week...so here goes...

You might remember this "little beauty" from THIS post a while back.  I bought it with some "fun money" my hubby gave me for Mother's Day.  It says "Meyers Unloader".  You know what that is right?  Me neither...I just thought it was cool...

Another angle...still cool...but I still haven't figured out exactly what to do with it.

So like I've said before..."when all else fails, flip it upside down..."

"...and put a plant in it." RIGHT?
Preferrably an Ikea (fake) succulent plant...sad but true, it's all I can keep alive.  But in case you are wondering....my kids are well cared for :)

So now I want to know "Would you buy it?" and what in the world would YOU do with it???

Remember to hop over to...

See you there!

Room by Room...the kitchen...

Chipping with Charm: Small Kitchen with Junky Details...http://chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

Hello again, I've been slowly but surely taking you all on a little tour of my humble abode...and "humble" is definitely the right name for the next room on our tour...the kitchen.  Now frankly, I'm not super excited about this little bitty room.  I was much more comfortable showing you the last few rooms on our tour...

But since these rooms are all connected, I can't very well skip over it and besides, you would probably notice that the kitchen was missing now wouldn't you? ;)
So here goes...just keep in mind, there are remodeling plans in the future...when our kids get little bigger and a little "less messy" as my husband says...

My dad made me this table when I first moved into an apartment...probably almost 20 years ago now...does that mean it's vintage???  I collected the chairs, painted them up and distressed them.  So I guess this was my first little thrifty decorating project.

This pew rack is handy for family devotions and some assorted trays.

Another "first project" were the cupboards...we painted the dark wood cupboards and my husband replaced the doors with these handmade beadboard doors...big improvement.

I love these little flower basket lanterns hanging from the pot rack...my husband isn't thrilled about this idea.  He's says this is a better place for pots and pans...huh?  Imagine that?

I got this adorable side table at an occasional sale with intentions of putting it in my daughter's room, but it wasn't quite right.  So up on the counter it went...

...it has a perfect little spot for my cookbooks.

The "Big Chief" ice box was purchased at a flea market and my husband refinished it...sure wish I had a "before" picture...you wouldn't believe the transformation.  It's great for storage.

I even managed to squeeze in a little coloring table for the kids.

So there you have it...my little kitchen filled to the brim with junky yet practical storage ideas.

So where should we go next?  Upstairs or down...we'll see :)

Thanks again for stopping by...your sweet comments make my day!

Dish Love...

So...I took a quick run through the thrift store yesterday and look what I found...

This cute little vintage cup and saucer goes with a set I bought at a flea market a few years back...I found a big old box full and I literally gasped out loud!!!
Lucky the price was right because there would have been no way I could have played off that reaction...everyone around me knew I was in love. (Except for maybe my husband who had the "nerve" to give me "that look" and tell me I didn't need anymore dishes. Now I don't make it a practice of ignoring my husband but in this case...I didn't give him a second look. They had already stole my heart.)

You might remember them from my Sentimental Junk post when I gave you a little peek at the treasures in the hutch my sweet hubby made for me.

And honestly, I don't know anything about them other than this is what it says on the bottom.

UPDATE...thank you to Ceekay from Thinkin of Home for the info on my dishes :) The pattern is Gay Nineties by Marcrest :)

Here's a closer look...

Cups and saucers...

Just look at these little scenes...

Three different plate sizes...

And 2 different glass sizes...

I mean SERIOUSLY can you stand it???  Love, love, love :)
Thanks for letting me gush...

Room by Room...The "Great" Room...

Hello friends, and thank you for all of your sweet comments on my first post in the little tour of my house.  It's fun to have you all "over" thanks for stopping back :)

So this is where we left off after our little "Entry/Sitting Room" post...if you missed it and you'd like to peek back you can see that post HERE.

So if you're all ready...we'll head into the "Great Room"...and since there are tons of pictures, I'll keep the "chatter" to a minimum and let the pictures do the "talking".

The "Great" room...I've always struggled with that name...but the WIKIPEDIA definition said this...
"The term great room denotes a room space within an abode which combines the specific functions of several of the more traditional room spaces (e.g. the family room, the living room, the study, etc.) into a singular unified space. Great rooms are typically at or near the center of the house, feature raised ceilings, and have been common in American homes since the early 1990s."
So a "Great Room" it is :)

It was actually harder than I thought to photograph...so here's the big picture and than I'll take you around for a closer look at all of my many vignettes around this rather large open space.

I made this light out of an old empty radio box...you can see that post HERE on JunkMarket Style.

Ahhh...this is still the best seat in the house :)

A sign made by my friend Joan...we'll be sharing a booth (along with Larry of the Country Junk Sale) at the fall Flea Market Under Glass Event.

We "gussied up" these chippy architecure pieces for bookends.

Perfect...

These XL glass jars have been all over the place...sorry, I didn't iron my runner for you.  Does it make you feel better to know I would probably forget to do it for "real company" too???

Love them sitting on these rusty old saw blades..."one man's trash...", literally :)

And this door will lead you to my porch which I showed you HERE.

You might also remember this special hutch and little house from my Sentimental Junk Post way back when...as you can see, I've simplified quite a bit since then.  It's my goal to "simplify" my decorating...but as a life long collector, it's really hard for me!!!  Maybe some of you can relate?  Baby steps :)

We took down my great-grandfather's ski's and added this old screen door.

Chippy-licious...just how I like it :)

So that about covers it for the Great Room...hope I haven't lost you :)
We'll move on to the kitchen next...and it's so teeny-tiny it's almost not worth showing...but I will :)
